What is the Transformer Doing?

  • High Voltage to Low:It lowers high transmission voltages down to safe levels for the driver’s voice coil.
  • Loss Prevention:It prevents voltage drops over very long cable runs, such as wiring speakers on top of a tall mosque or a large factory.

Physical Details of the Transformer

  • Location:It is housed inside the sealed, weather-proof rear ABS resin cover of the driver unit.
  • Weight:Adds roughly 1.1 kg to 1.3 kg depending on the specific transformer installed (like the TM-30T or TM-60T).
  • Tappings:It has an impedance selector switch. This allows you to choose exactly how much wattage the speaker will pull from the amplifier.
